Another set of old Nitco releases, just the art here, the music will be popping up for free on NITETROTTER.COM, i am still proud of my old art, and the days before i touched photoshop.

Jorge Anthony Tapia Y SINJOTHRAWMASH

So December 31st 2010 me and Jason Whitmarsh(aka SINJOTHRAWMASH) spent the night with our families together ringing in the New Year with clashing sounds...you know the kind of sounds that 2 friends make while skipping down the street, holding hands and giggling...that sound! it was wonderful. we pulled out almost every toy we have, and let that digital 8 track really have it. and this album is the result of that. Lawry Zilmrah skipped along on a few tracks adding his wonder wheel! and we love him for it!

MAINEY WILSON!! and Ikey Owens...and a new community of music from experimental minds!

For 10 years ive ran this record label, ALWAYS trying to push the limits musically...But, while i'm busy putting out noise and experimental albums i've strayed away from things that are closer to the norm. I started a  few years back collaborating and releasing RELS, which was a 15 y/o rapper, and prior to that CHICA X who is my daughter that turns 11 on Jan.20th, she's been releasing poppy/hiphop stuff since she was 6. Other than that my band Humanos played poppy/latin jams, and a few other more "normal" sounding bands here and there. But, my love for music is quite extravagant, i have a huge obsession with Erykah Badu, Sade, Sheila E,Sun Ra, Thelonious Monk, Billy Cobham etc... the past year i've established a good relationship with Ikey Owens(of Free Moral Agents/The Mars Volta/Look Daggers and all around Mad producing genious) being a fan of pretty much anything that kat get's his hands on, i was baffled when he agreed to release a 7" with Nitco for Free Moral Agents.I was finally given the premise to start putting out the music i never thought i'd have the opurtunity to work with! Long story short i was supposed to do a Zechs Marquise/FMA split, but that didnt quite work out. So, Ikey says to me"check out this girl ive been working with, that's when i was introduce to MAINEY WILSON, 'veiled visions' was the track that was sent to to me. Mainey's voice was Soulful, gorgeous, raging and thick! the Rebirth of Tina Turner in her prime was laid in my lap(well, ears) with these amazing vocals and Ikey on the keys and laying out the music/producing and Ryan Reiff(of FMA) tight beats on the drums, i was ecstatic, and  I quickly took on the project, then spent a year on this record, with too many pressing plant fumbles to even want to give a short thesis on(and im still dealing with them!)

In November my band MIJA went out to San Francisco to record with Ikey, throughout getting this session pieced together over the phone, Ikey once again told me i should check out a band he had just recorded from Chicago...having Midwestern pride i looked into this band 'WOLFMAGIC', i happened to be accquainted with one of the guys, and after hearing the songs, i once again took on another Ikey Owens produced band. Since then i've established a good relationship with the guys in this band(even playing a show and staying at their apartment last week), as well as establishing a good relationship with Elizabeth aka. Mainey...Once out in S.F., we were discussing Mainey touring. While i'm a self taught musician, i'm really tryin to establish myself musically, and with no proper training, it's quite hard to go from punk band's most of my life, to recording with a grammy award winning artist'. Ikey taught me and my band things i would have never, EVER thought of, showed us ways to look at music that changed my entire perspective on what i THOUGHT i knew about music. and while doing this, gave me hope to be a better musician and making me strive to accomplish greater things.

After we got done with our session and made our trek back to Illinois, the wheels in my head started turning. I wanted to work with Ikey more, he's created a community based around his talents, and sound, as well as being a all around cool kat. I got ahold of Mainey and Ikes and pitched the idea of MIJA being her backup band on a tour...things have fallen into place and this summer we are supposed to make the haul out the coast and train for our shows to back up one of my new favorite artists, MAINEY WILSON! i then offered to put out the CD of her E.P., and for the 3rd time have been given the honor of releasing a phenomenol (short)album!  This Cd will be out in the next few months, and will definitely be ready for the MIJA/MAINEY WILSON tour. possible shows with Free Moral Agents on the list. Many things still need to be worked out, and are up in the air. I have hope that when all things land, it will be in the right place and i'll once again be working with Ikey. I guess a summary to this is a THANK YOU is in order to Ikey Owens for being a teacher, a organizer, and a friend above all.
